Hi, my name is Jacqui and as curator of this Blog I thought you would need to know a little about me.
I am an almost 50-year-old mom of a son, life partner to a wonderful man who treats me like a queen, a teacher, dancer, choreographer, artist, costume designer and creator, fitness fanatic, and more recently a vegetarian who is striving for a more animal-friendly lifestyle, and who also holds down a normal 9 to 5-day job as a Business Process Specialist.
This is a Lifestyle Blog that covers good living, a little dance and a whole lot of creating.
I originally started a blog a couple of years ago on a platform that was a bit limiting and I realized I wanted a little more, so I decided to transition to a platform where that I had more options and could showcase my work better.
What can you expect to find:
My tagline is LIVE, DANCE, CREATE. Why I chose these topics for my website / Blog is because all of these topics speak to me and are part of my daily life.
Because life is precious and you should live every day to the fullest! I adopted a more plant-based lifestyle about 2 years ago and to say it changed my life is an understatement! I would like to share my experiences on that with you, hopefully not standing on anyone’s toes in the process – still a newbie!. I am also almost 50 which brings on a whole host of ‘getting older’ issues that I would like to share too. Along with all the things that inspire, motivate, frustrate, challenge the ordinary everyday life. Like they say; “Life happens when you are busy making plans’
I am a dancer, have been all my life. I think it is one of the things that defines me as a person. I started with Ballet and progressed through many different genre’s and found a home with Belly Dance later on in life, more specifically with Tribal Fusion Belly Dance and the freedom and non-judgemental nature of the amazing Sisterhood of Belly Dance. So if there is anything you want to know Belly dance-related, well, dance-related then I’m your gal! I will be sharing dance experiences, costuming hacks, stage make-up and hair tips and tricks, choreography insights, the pros and cons, the benefits, the thrills and spills, the bling and everything in between.
I am a creator of things, being a dancer I think feeds the need to be artistically creative and in the last decade or so I have tapped into the more creative ‘artsy’ side of me, and I am loving it!. I wanted somewhere that I can share my ongoing projects and perhaps send them out into the world. So there will be items for sale on the site, along with weekly blog posts about all and sundry. I might even try my hand at video tutorials/craft-with-me sessions. These are some of the ‘creations’ that could be listed on the site:
- Hand-made Junk Journals
- Altered Vintage Books (to use for Journaling)
- Hand-bound Art Journals
- Digital Collages for using in Junk Journals and Art Journals
- Bags (and other recycled fabric projects)
- The odd belly dance costume item
- Embellishments and Ephemera
*I will from time to time post images/quotes/things/stuff that intrigues me, inspire me or that I just find beautiful on my Blog Posts. I will, where possible, credit these goodies to the original artist/blogger/creator / post-er, as a sign of mutual respect and admiration.
**If you perhaps noticed, the tattoo on my right shoulder has since changed. If you do come across other images of me.
Thank you for popping by, I hope you enjoy.
